The President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu presented the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar-2024 at an award ceremony at Gantantra Mandap, Rashtrapati Bhavan. In the first edition of the Rashtriya Vigyan Puraskar, 33 awards were presented to distinguished scientists in four categories - Vigyan Ratna, Vigyan Shri, Vigyan Yuva, and Vigyan Team.
Prof. Syed Wajih Ahmad Naqvi, National Science Chair, CSIR-National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow: Prof. Naqvi is an outstanding Biogeochemical Oceanographer with national and international recognition. His pioneering research work had an enduring disruptive impact on oceanography. He was awarded Vigyan Shri.

He apologized for becoming emotional and said it was difficult for him to speak. Zubair Rizvi had been heading the Academy for 30 years and the audiences too it as the idiosyncrasy of a reputed poet. He left his speech midway and walked slowly to his chair and sat down in it. Rakim Numan, the chief guest, who was seated close to him found him feeling uneasy. He rose and rushed towards Zubair’s seat. Before he could pour water from his bottle to the doyen of Urdu litterateur, he had collapsed...

Printmaker Jai Krishna Agarwal’s works to be displayed in Chennai

A retrospective exhibition of the works of Lucknow-based printmaker Jai Krishna Agarwal will begin at DakshinaChitra museum gallery on September 28.
More than 50 “etchings and aquatint” and “archival pigment prints” done by the artist over a period of five decades will be displayed at the gallery as part of the exhibition, said a release from DakshinaChitra.
